UtilityOS is a Canadian company building a modern cloud platform for electric, water, and gas utilities.
Before this was a product, it was our day job. Our founding team spent decades working inside utilities, leading meter data management, billing, customer care, market settlement, and regulatory compliance.
We’re a focused team building the platform we always wished we’d had, designed around how utilities actually operate every day.
Our story
UtilityOS didn’t begin as a software company. It began with a simple frustration shared by many utility professionals: even small process improvements often required vendor tickets, lengthy development queues, and far too much waiting.
Eventually we stopped waiting and built the tools we actually needed.
The improvements were immediate. Work became simpler. Training became easier. Teams spent less time working around software and more time serving customers.
That’s when we realized we weren’t just solving our own problems; we were building the platform we believed utilities deserved.
Why we exist
Most utility software makes the utility do the adapting. Workarounds pile up, changes wait in a vendor’s queue, and month-end still runs on spreadsheets. We think that’s backwards.
